08. November 2014 - Calheta Vitor

Alex, a canadian pilot and friend and I drive to the north and we arrive at Calheta Vitor. Here the surface of the desert is like coated with a slim concrete skin. It probably is the result of strong winds, the moisture of the sea and the baking oven heat of the desert sun. Even little stones glued into this skin act as a solid anchor and if they have a sharp edge they can act as a knife. These circumstances let us decide not to use our new gliders with their uncoated lines. I try a flight with an old Octane, but this glider does not show the performance of a nowadays glider and the soaring winds are light and so the flight is a very short one.
